Hey, a special thanks to Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, an ardent Clinton supporter, for reminding us that Barack Obama is black. Melanie Morgan, Ann Coulter and other psychos on the Right haven't mentioned it in a while, and I bet that Obama guy was just going to try and sneak his race by us. SARCASM KEY! If Obama is hiding his race from us, what else is he hiding? Hmm? HMM?
Seems if the Right is, well, right, he is also the Manchurian Muslim candidate. But wait, some college kids working to elect Obama had a Che Guevarra poster in their room, a sure sign that Obama is an adrent communist. Since Communists are atheists, he can't he a Muslim. However, if he's a Muslim he can't be an athiest. Which is it? We're told he is the most liberal Senator, and told he hasn't done anything. Hard to prove yourself America's top Liberal by not doing anything. Of course he is also a member of a o-called Black nationalist church in Chicago. Since nationalism and bigotry in any form is at odds with Liberalism and Secularism-look up the words- he has to be one or the other. The only charge he hasn't been accused of is being a flaming homosexual while having numerous affairs with Hollywood starlets, or accusing him of impotency while fathering a Martian baby out of wedlock. There is a saying for the sort of baseless , incongruent thought fired at Obama. In the country they call it pissing in the wind.
As for experience, that is not always a prerequisite for leadership. Military history is replete with stories of underlings and common soldiers taking up the banner of leadership in desperate circumstances. The penchant for inexperienced patriots totake charge was a character of the Revolution. Central to the role of leadership is the ability to rally and inspire, and to direct, or build a competent team capable of directing the inspired. Obama has shown that he is more than capable of that. Indeed, it has carried him through two strong victories, most recently in the Potomac Primary.
In Chapter 18 of THE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT, qualities that help make a strong leader is listening to and asking questions of people, establishin one's self as a reliable source of information, being a keen observer of events and of others, relying on the input and advice of others, "Knowing enough to know that you don't know everything," the ability and resolve to make decisions, and to take responsibility for those decisions, especially when things go awry or prove different from originally thought. Hmm, should we see how many of those apply to the Bush administration, who has not taken responsibility for anything. Right, Scooter LibbY?
Does inspiration in Obama require blind faith? Of course not. He is, ultimately, interviewing for the open position of President, and we the American people are the Human Resource Department deciding from the pool of applicants who would best fill that opening. I expect that, if Obama becomes President, he will make mistakes, and he should be held accountable for them. Such as, as much as I love Stevie Wonder's music, the decision to allow him to sing crappy slogans at rallies. Please no more. But the fact remains that Obama is as qualified as anyone who has been in that office in recent memory. Certainly as much as Bill Clinton and George Bush, and definitely as much as Hillary. As for McCain, his past, particularly as part of the Keating Five during the Savings and Loan scandal is an indication of the temptation and cynicism that infects those with decades of "Experience" in Washington. From that standpoint Obama's inexperience might just prove the best experience of all.

Maybe by saying it they were pandering to the blind bigot vote (how big would that group be I wonder...)

Suppose my answer depends on what time of the day I answer. Sort of like if someone asks if I believe in god or not. There's a lot of bigotry out there still, and probably always will be. That's why good people have to fight back. My sense is, and I pray I'm right, is that people so ignorant they don't actively, or can't see truth in the world, and who are such reprobates they refuse to see beyond color, sexuality or ethnicity might not be all that motivated to vote, at least not on an organized level. Let's hope and work to support the upsurge of passion for real change in the country and make sure we're more organized and numerous than those peeing in our gene pool.
Whoever gets the most votes wins. I'd vote for the trash collector if he met my political expectations. Barack doesn't. The reasons he doesn't will only become clear once he's elected. Even then I'm sure they won't become clear to people on the Left. They still believe Carter was a great President.
When I'm looking for bigots I always look on the Left. The place is crawling with them. If they'd ever just shut up about race, gender, sexual preference, etc. maybe we could finally put all that behind us.
Let's agree that the era of statemen is lacking on both sides, and has been for a very long time. Leaders are more respective of the media who constructs them that what is necessary to lead this nation. As for bigotry on the Left, I have always argued that it is latent on the Left and overt on the Right. Others would say that if it is there on both sides then it is endemic, in many forms, in the society. Good man.
