Lately liberals have allowed Republicrooks to defines us as wimps, not standing by our principles and anyti-American. Michael Savage, the psychotic talk show host in California calls us the enemy within, and as suffering from a mental disorder. Of course this is the same person who says his personal fight(that he solicits donations from his listeners to fight in a classic coward scenario)is an epic battle for free speech, while at the same time saying that anyone who disagrees with his hate should be arrested for sedition. But I digress.
We are accused of conspiring with the "Liberal" media-really the corporate media-of railroading Obama into the White House. Conspiracy? I think not. The corporate media is base, consumeristic and profits from war. In that regard they are populist and excitable in their power to skew the argument as they see fit. Take for example their breathless and flawlessly marketed campaign in the lead up to the war. How convenient they left out pertinent facts and avoided proper arguments. Hardly the mark of a liberal media.
What the media does is play a game, swinging opinion and culture from one extreme to another. Pay attention next time some agregious murder case comes up and the voices and slants bring us stories of repeat offenders and dangerous criminals in our midst. Once we are worked up sufficiently, calling for blood suddenly the argument swings the other way to abuses in the legal system, the mental deficiency of perpatrators or new research that might one day find a cure. Classic marketing at its purest. That is swing your emotions so wildly, offput opinions and beliefs so fully that you are more suseptible to the message-or product.
Then I woke up this morning and saw the coverage of Obama's trip to Afghanistan. The anchor on ABCs Good Morning America, over video of gunbattles and explosions said,"This is what Senator Obam will face on the ground in Afghanistan.." As if he'll be in the trenches tossing grenades, or going over the toip with a knife in his teeth. Every network is sending anchors along with Obama, unlike McCain's earlier trip. Media bias or media egotism?
The fact is I am an Obama supporter. The media has conveniently ignored McCain's corrupt record regarding Keating Five, and relished in the Rev. Wright nonsense. Why? They are playing us. They are asserting their power, and with it the corporate hegemony over this country, the constitution and the electoral process. It is the bulwark against any assertions of the people to remove corporate influence in government.
I'll vote for Obama. I think he is the better man, not because he is the better man, but because the corporations have fewer hooks in him than in McCain. What I want is a fair fight. I have never run from a fight for the good and just and I'll be damned if I'll do it now. How does that jive with your pissy definitions about Liberals, Righties? Up for the fight, or will it be the same deal you pulled in Iraq, get someone else to fight your battles while touching yourself to pictures of Ann Coulter and guns?
Whew! That felt good.
