The wife and I started recycling in earnest last year. We've reduced our landfill waste by about 80%. This morning, dropping off I few things at the local recycling center a little old lady pulled up behind me. This rosey-cheeked lady hobbled out with four empty gallen containers of PIASANO CHIANTI. The bins were pretty full but I managed a spot that would accomodate my stuff, and her bottles.
"Oh, that you," she said in a gravelly gin(or wine) and cigarettes hoarse voice. She blushed unable to make eye contact and stammered. "Cleaned these out of the church rectory."
"Looks like they were trying to get a little closer to heaven."
"Oh, no," she replied, "this was over a long time, you know at the church, because I got these at the church. I mean I told them at the church..."
I just smiled. She wasn't kidding either of us.
