About Me
Born just outside of Chicago, I am a writer and artist. My first novel, Broken will be released this spring. It tells the story of a wounded veteran returning from Iraq to a small Michigan town, and an old man who lives in the olod Ojibwa ways and claims to be a survivor of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The story is a celebration of Michigan's rugged and mysterious Upper Peninsula and its native heritage, as well as dealing with the issue of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, something I am intimately aware of after experiences during the Bosnian War and the Rwandan Genocide. My art is often controversial. A crime exhibit became a First Ammendment issue in which I prevailed on the side of free speech against a large corporate media conglomerate. I am an activist who has fought for civil rights awareness, and who continues to work for social justice. In 1994 I married a Bosnian girl 2 blocks from the frontline after only knowing her for 10 days. Our story of love and survival will be published as a memoir next year. We currently live with our two cats Smudge and Static. The blog continues my war against hypocrisy, as well as explorations of the world, human folly, my own and the world. Hope you enjoy.
